The Land is Ours / الارض لنا
Rana Zaher is a Lebanese designer, illustrator and archaeologist based in Berlin & Beirut whose creative approach is mainly inspired by the visual art and culture of ancient and medieval SWANA region. Through intertwining historic references with fantasy, her works depict alternate realities comprising of imaginary realms and characters. Rana’s archaeological work includes excavation & research in Lebanon and southeastern Turkey since 2015. Her academic research focuses on the development of monumental sculptural art in Iron Age Syro-Anatolia.
Illustration description: Inspired from a series of iconic photographs taken of Lebanese women carrying water jugs in southern Lebanon in the 1960’s, this piece’s motivation is simply stated in its title: The Land is ours. The south belongs to its people, and no entity of terror will rip to away from us.
The illustration is sold in a limited edition of 50 for each size.
